On 10 April Golden had the pleasure of keeping glasses full at the opening of AXIS, a joint exhibition by talented artists and long-time friends James Hunt and Georgie Johnson. Hosted at Studio One Toi Tū, their joint show invited visitors to rethink our relationship with the natural world and consider how it must evolve in a warming climate.
Backing events like AXIS is not a sideline for Golden. Our drinks start with high-grade New Zealand honeys and locally grown fruits from here in Aotearoa, so the health of local ecosystems is inseparable from our own future. We choose local fruit and honey suppliers precisely for better flavour, but also to contrast against the globalised and carbon-heavy supply chains of our multinational rivals¹.
James and Georgie challenge viewers to step back from the centre and recognise the living systems that sustain us. That outlook mirrors our daily work with beekeepers, growers and retailers who depend on thriving, biodiverse environments. Supporting their exhibition is a practical way to amplify creative voices that champion sustainability and conscious decision-making.
On a personal note, a painting from James’s last show, “Cheers”, hangs in my living room and reminds me each day to keep perspective. His playful style and positive compositions soften life’s sharp edges and help me count my blessings. Exactly the energy we aim to capture in every can of Golden honey soda.
